For an employee appreciation day, Johnson & Johnson treated 95 staffers to a daylong retreat and game-filled party at the Glasshouses in the Chelsea Arts Tower.
Last Friday, Johnson & Johnson invited 95 staffers to the Glasshouses in the Chelsea Arts Tower for an employee appreciation day of games, entertainment, spa treatments, and food. Jeannine Fiorentino, the executive assistant for Johnson & Johnson's oral care division, worked with Wilson Mesa of Mille Fiori's recently launched events division to devise an earth-and-sky motif for the 14th and 21st floors of the venue. Inspired by the idea of escapism, the concept was designed to create a relaxing environment for the daylong event.

To make sure the staff felt relaxed, Johnson & Johnson provided massages.                                                                                                                            Flame Deal served a selection of dishes, including dumplings and sushi, from food stations on the 21st floor.
A variety of games sat among the more earthy arrangements on the 14th floor, including a roller-coaster simulator.                                                                                                                  A blackjack table provided a less physical activity for guests.
A sketch artist was among the entertainers at the event.

Decorated with modern white lounge furniture, cocktail chairs and tables, birch trees in clear cylindrical vases, and arrangements of blue and white hydrangeas, the 21st floor symbolized the sky side of the design concept. On this level, attendees partook in massages from the spa, inhaled oxygen from the oxygen bar, and snacked on the fare provided at three food stations. For entertainment, there was a floating magician, a tarot card reader, and a sketch artist.

Browns and green filled the 14th floor for the earth theme, including more birch trees, this time in wooden planters surrounded by tall grasses and other leafy greens. Essentially a game room, the space featured a blackjack table, Nintendo Wii, a foosball table, a football-throwing arcade game, and simulators for Nascar-style racing, a roller coaster, and hang gliding.   —Anna Sekula
